Hello, we are the ViaMundi team!
Djihä from Korea & Philipp from Germany. We have both been married for over 5 years now and have a small daughter together. We love telling each other about our culture and discussing the differences. At some point we asked ourselves how other people could benefit from this cultural exchange and that's where the idea of food surprise boxes from foreign countries came from!
History of origin
Of course, since we didn't know at all whether anyone from other countries would find our idea for surprise boxes as great as we did, we tried to start small: When Djihä's family visited Korea, we visited countless Korean supermarkets and hundreds of different ones Sampled sweets to find the perfect combination for a Korean candy box. That wasn't easy at all: Not all sweets are suitable for a box, many have ingredients that are not approved in Europe and others were far too expensive for the box. At times we were close to tears because it sometimes seemed like we just couldn't find enough sweets. After several weeks of searching, we finally managed it: we had enough together to pack the first 100 boxes!

We first offered the boxes on Amazon and they sold very quickly: Apparently other people also thought our boxes were a cool idea! But now the real work began: We had to find a professional exporter from Korea who wanted to work with us as a small company. After many, many calls and rejections, we finally found a partner in Korea. Unfortunately, the next challenge was just around the corner: the regulations for importing food are extremely complicated and we were on the verge of giving up several times. At some point we finally understood it enough to dare to order our first container (and invest several tens of thousands of euros in it): Finally the time had come and we could start selling our Korean candy box!
Korea is not everything!
After these boxes were really well received by our customers, we became more confident: We also designed boxes for other countries and then finally designed our own homepage. We still really want to introduce you to different countries with our boxes and hope that you will continue to be loyal to us!
