Three huge crackling chocolate sticks from Korea

Almost everyone knows popping candy from childhood: the fizzy powder that jumps and crackles on your tongue. In Korea it has grown into a snack in XXL format, and that is what you have here. Korean sweets like to play with texture and effect anyway: the main thing is that something happens while you eat. If you have already tried a few Korean snacks, you know the principle. Familiar ingredients, but with a twist you will not find here.

The huge crackling chocolate sticks are made of wheat biscuits and coated with a layer of chocolate that creates a crackling effect in your mouth. First you taste biscuit and chocolate, then it starts to prickle and pop. You do not only hear the crackling, you feel it on your tongue, and it does not stop right away. A great eating experience, and a hit in Korea for a long time.

The size is part of the fun: each stick is 19 cm long and approx. 1.5 cm in diameter. That makes them a good deal longer and thicker than the thin chocolate biscuit sticks you otherwise know from Asia. So a single stick is already a portion in itself, and sharing works just as well as nibbling your way through one on your own.

You get three sticks with a total of 54 g, each one wrapped separately in red foil and printed with pop comic artwork and a monster mascot. That way you can open one after the other, or give them away one at a time: as a small gift, as a surprise in an advent calendar, or as dessert on a series night.
